Mauro Garofalo fra Comunità di Sant’Egidio holder foredrag på NUPI

"A way out for the Central African Republic in turmoil?"

In this seminar, Mr. Mauro Garofalo from Sant’Egidio Community will discuss what role his institution can play in the ongoing conflict in the Central African Republic. Sant’Egidio is a lay organization of the Catholic Church and has become increasingly important on the international arena as a key track-two diplomacy actor (informal diplomacy with non-official actors). Sant’Egidio played a decisive role in a number of negotiations including the successful peace process in Mozambique. Sant’Egidio is now involved in a number of African crises.

Mauro Garofalo is the responsible for international relations at the Sant’Egidio Community. He has participated as mediator in several peace initiatives and worked for reconciliation processes in Guinea Conakry, Zimbabwe and Niger. He is currently in charge of promoting the dialogue for national reconciliation in the Central African Republic.
